The topic I chose for my awareness poster is immigration,
specifically the defense of DACA. My
work as a volunteer at an organization that provides support services to refugees

work as a volunteer at an organization that provides support services to refugees
and immigrants has helped me to really see firsthand that the children of our
clients have many of the same dreams as my own children. They are in the country through no fault of
their own and I strongly believe that for them someday there should be a path
for them to remain here legally.
I plan to find an image on Shutterstock that shows a diverse
group of children - primarily their faces.
I want them to be smiling. I will
use a very simple sans serif font to put a message above the image challenging the
reader to find the one that wasn’t born here – or something like that. And then below the image I will put a call to
action if they feel like they should all be treated the same. I will use the hashtag #defendDACA and information
for resistbot.firsthand that the children of our
clients have many of the same dreams as my own children. They are in the country through no fault of
their own and I strongly believe that for them someday there should be a path
for them to remain here legally.
I think I will title my work ‘They Are All DREAMers”.
